Is
the WILD BEAR for you?
The Wild Bear Adventure Race is set up to offer training for anyone who wants to eventually try the multi-day races. If you jump right up to a multi-day race, you’re often not prepared with the right equipment or navigational skills necessary. This race provides a basic course that will keep you on trails that appear on topographical maps; however, some compass reading will be necessary. Don’t let the navigation aspect intimidate you because basic compass reading will get you through this race. (If you're still intimidated by now, please go to our DVOA Training Day on April 5th. Please contact us to sign up.)
If you ever thought about trying a longer race but were intimidated by your lack of knowledge, this will be the race for you. There will be checkpoints throughout the course, plus a friendly staff in case you have a problem. There will also be orienteering markers along the course. So if you’re on course, you will see the markers. You should also check out the suggested gear list to help you prepare.
Although this is a 50 mile race, there will be several transition areas for you to re-supply throughout the course.
This is an unsupported race, however, gear will have to be transferred at one point during the race. If you're bringing spectators or supporters, they can transfer your gear for you. If not, our staff will transfer your equipment for a fee of $10 per team. If we transfer your equipment, it needs to be in ONE team box, CLEARLY marked with your team name.
Hope to see you at the race!
